How to Start a Good Site Part I
Starting your own website
is not very hard, but you have to put a lot of time and
effort into it. To construct a website you must think
about the factors that make other sites good. For a
gaming site is almost imperitive to have a news page.
Whatever content you are going to put on your website
should be uploaded before the site is opened (unlike me
=p). Another thing you should do is get as many
affiliates as you can. This serves as an advantage
because the affiliate will direct visitors to your site.
I would also reccommend applying for posting privileges
on such sites as Starcraft Legacy. Then there is the
well-known search engine submission technique. Most
search engines are reliable and will get back to you
fast, but some, like Yahoo!, might never even reply back,
so make sure you pick a reliable search engine. Now, some
people look at a site and say "wow it has a nice
layout" and some say "wow, this site has good
content". No matter which one of these type of
people you think is more prominenet go for the content.
Please your visitors first with your news and resources
within the site and then elaborate the site with a fancy
layout. Another important thing to do is make sure your
visitors can give you suggestions whether thru e-mail or
ICQ or a feedback section on your website, this is very
important. It is important because you are creating a
site for others to see, so you want to know how they
respond to it. These are the basics for starting a site.
I will get into more detail in part II about frames,
tables and such. Check back next week for part II :).
